Start your assignment - rich picture of the smart city situation
This forum is for scanning and posting your picture of the situation that you are exploring in relation to Egham as a smart city.
The aim is to find out what you and other people think could be made to help Egham become a digitally smart city
You are to draw and scan a rich picture of Egham as a (potentially and digitally smart) city. These are some guidelines that you can follow:
A rich picture is a collection of pieces of information. Some information is factual (i.e. comes from reports), other information is perceptual (it comes from your perceptions or those of other people)
Your task is to make a rich picture of the city of Egham as best as you can 'paint' it.
Key elements of the picture: Processes (or main activities), physical and organisational structures (to help the activities to be carried out), and relationships between these two. For example: There is living, working and studying activities. Or there are commercial and non-commercial activities. In terms of structures there are roads, supermarkets, government organisations, charities, nurseries.
To produce the picture you need to do some internet search to find information, but also generate some experiential information coming from you as someone who directly or indirectly lives in Egham.
You will also need to talk to a few other people and gather their impressions. You can ask them an open question: What do you think of Egham? or alternatively: What has been your experience as an inhabitant of Egham? What troubles you? What do you like to happen here in Egham?
With factual and non-factual information the idea is to reflect it in the picture. The picture does not have to be perfectly drawn. It needs to show things as they currently are. Remember what we have said about success and failure. The more you practice, the better you become at something!
One A4 or A3 page will do, provided the resulting digital picture you take and upload is readable.
