In this week’s essay assignment, you are going to conduct an evaluation on the Report: 1 in 5 US Adults on Behavioral Meds and Women More Likely to Have Broken Heart Syndrome. Your essay must address the following criteria:
Evaluate the statistics presented in both reports. As a critical thinker, do you believe they are accurate and trustworthy? Why? Be sure to read the guideline for assessing statistics on p.145 of Asking the Right Questions. Your evaluation should properly reflect your work in the six tips listed in the guideline.
Identify at least two reasoning fallacies in the reports. Use proper language as seen in chapter 7 when you refer to the fallacy. Explain why you believe the example of your choice is a fallacy. For example, if you identify an example of appeal to authority fallacy in one of the reports, you should first describe the example, then explain why you believe that this is an appeal to authority fallacy.
